Job overview
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a Clinical Fellow (at Speciality Trainee level) to support the services of the ENT department. The Trust hosts the centralised head and neck surgical oncology, skull base and advanced rhinology services for Cheshire and Merseyside.
This posts is to commence in Feb 26 and is for 6 months, fixed-term. The appointee is expected to support the present team and to contribute to the running of services within the ENT Department. Applicants are required to hold the Membership of a Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS ENT) and to be fully registered with the General Medical Council. It will be expected that the incumbent contributes to the department’s active research, teaching and training programme, at both under- and post-graduate level.
This post is ideal for applicants who require high quality ENT training at the level of Speciality Trainee, or individuals who are preparing for the exit examination (e.g. FRCS ORL-HNS) or application for CESR.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Routine elective activity will comprise of supervised operating theatres, clinics and ward rounds, within a fully-complaint timetable.
Out-of-hours (overnight, weekends) commitments will be part of a rolling oncall rota for Aintree University Hospital, Royal Liverpool Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. The post holder will also participate in daytime oncall where elective activity is cancelled.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS, MBChB (or equivalent)
- MRCS (ENT) (or equivalent)
- Full GMC Registration
Desirable criteria
- FEBORL-HNS
Clinical Experience
Essential criteria
- Completion of Foundation-Year training (or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months experience in ENT.
- Evidence of continuing medical education (e.g. courses)
Desirable criteria
- At least 12 months experience in ENT
Teaching & training Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of teaching to medical students, clinical and nursing staff, and other disciplines
Desirable criteria
- Running and managing courses/ conferences
Clinical Governance experience
Essential criteria
- Understanding of NHS management structures and the principles of Clinical Governance.
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
Management Experience
Essential criteria
- Willingness to participate in management activities
- Understanding of financial arrangements in the NHS
- Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures.
- Experience working in a busy tertiary centre and within multi-disciplinary teams (e.g, Thyroid, Head and Neck)
