Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.
The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.
In its most recent inspection, the Care Quality Commission gave the Trust an overall rating of Good.

Locum Consultant Microbiologist
Applications are invited to apply for a 6 month fixed term (10PA) Locum Consultant post in Clinical Infection within Liverpool Clinical Laboratories (LCL).
Applicants with CCT (or equivalent) in Microbiology and/or Infectious Diseases are invited to apply. The post will be part of the LCL pool of consultant Microbiologists and will be expected to deliver the clinical collaborative consults service at Liverpool University Hospital Foundation Trust. Further duties include telephone advisory service, authorisation of reports and laboratory liaison from the hub laboratory located in Royal Liverpool University Hospital. Other commitments can be organised by agreement of the Clinical Director for Infection and Immunity.
The department has fully embraced new technologies and has implemented a fully automated bacteriology processing and imaging system (Kiestra-total laboratory automation) and Maldi-ToF. The department provides undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and there are close links with the University of Liverpool.
Liverpool is a friendly, vibrant city with a wide range of cultural activities and easy access to North Wales and the Lake District. A new £450 million hospital, including a laboratory block, is being built adjacent to the current Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
All applicants must possess FRCPath or equivalent, GMC registration, be on the Specialist Register within six months of interview and have training and experience in Microbiology. Any candidate who is unable to work full time for personal reasons will be eligible for the post.
