This post is open to employees of the five LAASP organisations. An opportunity arises to recruit an experienced administrator to support St. Paul's Eye Unit private patient and other clinics.  This is a Band 4 post, part-time (22.5 hours per week),  based at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. St Paul's Eye Unit is the largest eye care provider within Cheshire and Merseyside delivering all ophthalmology subspecialties. 

The successful candidate will: have excellent communication and listening skills, be capable of conversing with patients and colleagues - in person, by email and by telephone.  They will also have a high level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office and hospital systems) being capable of accurately collecting, collating,  and uploading all required data in a timely fashion.   

Previous experience working in the NHS would be an advantage but is not essential. 

Main duties of the job

This post involves: managing enquiries from patients, internal and external stakeholders, setting up and communicating private patient appointments, collecting, collating and uploading data as required, other administrative task as necessary in support of ophthalmology clinical services.

You will have the ability to prioritise competing demands and effectively problem solve in a fast paced office environment. You will have experience managing several busy and complex diaries, managing email inboxes and facilitating a range of meetings and committees, both face-to-face and online – compiling agendas and papers, as well as taking and distributing comprehensive minutes.

Working within a team of dynamic and dedicated PAs, this is a truly collaborative role that will provide opportunities to work across the hospital at all levels. The role would suit a highly motivated team player who strives to provide a first class PA service to the Directors they support.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RSA III or equivalent – Typing
  • GCSE Maths and English/equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience as a Personal Assistant at a senior level
  • Experience of working as a team member
  • Proven experience of prioritising work and meeting deadlines

Knowledge

Desirable criteria
  • NHS Background or an understanding of the NHS

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Audio Typing or equivalent typing skills
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Packages: Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to produce accurate minutes of meetings
  • Ability to use initiative and judgement to critically analyse and resolve problems, seeking advice/assistance, where appropriate
  • Good administrative and organisational skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to cope in a continually changing NHS Environment
