Pharmacy Technician - Aseptic Services

Job overview
We have a highly regarded Aseptic Production Unit (APU) at the Trust and moved into our brand new unit in 2023. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with an interest in Aseptic production. The role will involve rotations through cytotoxic reconstitution, CIVAS and TPN.
The post holder will contribute the running of an efficient and effective manufacturing service by contributing to the production and the distribution of sterile parenteral medicines.
You must have NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services or Science Manufacturing
Technician or equivalent (or working towards these) and be a member of the GPhC, Science Council or equivalent.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be delivering the day to day workload as member of a dedicated team, to include:
- Chemotherapy - cytotoxic reconstitution service.
- Parenteral Nutrition Service serving both hospital and home patients, including adult and neonatal products.
- Intravenous Additive Service to offer an extensive range of products for both Royal University Hospitals and external customers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To organise the workload in the areas for which responsibility has been delegated and to deploy the available staff in the most effective manner.
Adhere to and ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are read/understood and observed by all staff at all times.
To demonstrate a team approach by adapting to and working confidently and competently in each area within Aseptic Services, as required by the Aseptic Services Pharmacist and the needs of the service.
To maintain and update documents relating to equipment, facilities and training and to report deviations from specified operating conditions, as required by the Aseptic Services Pharmacist.
To liaise with customers, quality control personnel and carriers to ensure the prompt dispatch and delivery of all aseptic products, ensuring all handling and storage conditions are met and maintained.
To collate and provide to Senior Technician - Aseptic Services end of month workload statistics for areas where responsibility has been delegated.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) or QC laboratory practical work experience and/or substantial experience in an industrial/pharmaceutical setting
- Experience of working in a team
- Experience of the preparation of aseptic products
Desirable criteria
- Experience of using automated equipment
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services or Science Manufacturing Technician or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services, Science Manufacturing Technician or equivalent
- A member of the GPhC council, Science Council or equivalent
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and application of SOPs and Quality Assurance systems, GMP and GDP
- Knowledge of COSHH
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Clinical Trials and Hospital aseptic services
- Able to relate to all grades of staff within a multidisciplinary team
Skills
Essential criteria
- Clear and accurate written communication skills
- Ability to use different IT applications
- Methodical with attention to detail
- Range of aseptic preparation and manipulations skills
- Ability to train others
