Job overview
We are excited to offer this new opportunity for collaborative working with UHLG and LSTM on the newly commissioned Tropical Medicine service. You will be imperative to shaping the future delivery.
The post holder will support the effective delivery of waiting time standards by monitoring activity, demand and performance data across outpatient and inpatient pathways. The postholder will develop and maintain databases, analyse patient processes, identify data quality issues and produce timely reports to support operational decision-making and service improvement. Working closely with clinical, administrative and directorate teams, they will help optimise resources, improve pathway efficiency and ensure accurate information is available to support performance delivery. The role will also include day-to-day people management of a team of secretaries, supporting workload allocation, training, development, recruitment and consistent administrative standards.
Main duties of the job
· Monitor, analyse and report activity, demand and performance data to support service delivery.
· Develop and maintain databases and information systems to support accurate, timely and effective service reporting.
· Map patient pathways, identify delays or data quality issues, and work with colleagues to support service improvement.
· Produce reports and updates for the Directorate Team, working to agreed deadlines and priorities.
· Provide day-to-day supervision and people management for a team of secretaries, including workload allocation, training, development and recruitment support.
· Liaise with clinical, administrative and external colleagues to share information, resolve issues and support consistent administrative standards.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RSA level 3 or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 Business Administration/equivalent
- Introduction and Intermediate Level Word, Excel and Access Certificates
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience in managing a Team of Staff
- Extensive experience administrative / clerical gained in a busy office environment
- NHS experience
- Experience of using Hospital IT systems
- Experience of working in a Customer / patient focused environment
- Recent experience to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
- Experience of independently managing a varied workload to meet demanding deadlines
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Finance Management – Knowledge of NHS budgetary / financial procedures.
- Knowledge of budgetary / financial systems
- Understanding of the requirements of Data Protection and Patient Confidentiality
