Liverpool Women’s NHS FT became part of NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHLG) in November 2024, following the coming together with Liverpool University Hospitals NHS FT. UHLG was born from a shared aim to improve the care we provide to our patients.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Lead Clinical Pharmacist to join our dynamic pharmacy team at Liverpool Women’s Hospital (LWH). This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a pivotal clinical leadership role across the Gynaecology Division and manage improvement work for the benefit of patients.

The postholder will assist the Chief Pharmacist and Deputy Chief Pharmacist in the development and evaluation of Pharmacy and Medicines Management Services across the Gynaecology Division.
The postholder will also be a member of the LWH Senior Pharmacy Leadership Team (SLT) and will work alongside other members of the SLT to manage the day to day running of the Pharmacy Services on site and ensure interfaces between portfolios and sites are managed seamlessly.
Key responsibilities of the postholder will include;
- Provide leadership and be responsible for the gynaecology clinical pharmacy service.
- Lead and provide clinical expertise in the delivery and development of pharmacy services to the gynaecology directorate developing exemplary clinical practice.
- Develop and manage the gynaecology pharmacy team to ensure safe and effective specialist clinical pharmacy service for patients and staff.
- Lead the strategic direction and implementation of pharmacy services to the Gynaecology Division.

Ensure multi disciplinary working in the gynaecology team to identify and optimise patient co-morbidities and to refer to other specialties or services in a timely manner when required.
Provide highly specialist pharmacist input to patient care, promoting medicines optimisation for patients
Provide a safe and effective advanced clinical pharmacy service to the gynaecology directorate
Liaise with appropriate healthcare professionals within other secondary care trusts to ensure the effective and efficient use of resources during the transfer of babies and where necessary, develop relevant protocols
Support the Chief Pharmacist and Deputy Chief Pharmacist and other senior pharmacy managers in developing and implementing the strategic goals for the department.
Participate in other management responsibilities including, performance review, sickness and absence monitoring, formal investigations as delegated.
Be involved in the development or review of all policies and guidelines relating to gynaecology directorate
Ensure that all Trust guidelines, policies and procedures relating to medicines used in gynaecology are regularly reviewed and updated in line with the latest clinical evidence and regional and national guidelines.
Co-operate with objective setting, individual personal assessment and continuing education and training programmes, to ensure continuing professional development and competence to practice as required by clinical governance

- Membership of The General Pharmaceutical Council
- Diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent documented clinical experience
- Full NMP qualification
