As part of a continuing recruitment plan, we are looking for dynamic and proactive staff to maintain the delivery of safe, high quality, patient-focused care within our Gynaecology and Obstetrics theatres. Therefore an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Theatre Nursing Associate in Recovery. 

The Theatre Nursing Associate will have successfully completed a 2-year Trainee Nursing Associate programme, which includes the attainment of a level 5 foundation degree qualification and NMC registration.

The post holder will work as part of a designated theatre team to provide continuous outstanding services to patients under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses/ Operating Department Practitioners / Health Care Professionals, whilst following all local Standard Operating Procedures and Guidelines.

The Theatre Nursing Associate will:

· Work with a Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner delivering high quality care to patients within the theatre environment.

· Carry out delegated clinical tasks and responsibilities to a high standard, ensuring competence in clinical tasks for the area in which you are assigned.

· Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with Liverpool Women's trust values.

· Work as part of the team delivering care that focuses on the direct care needs of each individual patient.

Recovery Responsibilities

·         Assist in the provision of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients in the perioperative environment.

·         Maintain an understanding of the Nursing Process and be able to assist the registered practitioner in on-going assessments, planning and management of patient care.

·         Be familiar with the use of trust documentation or electronic records to record the outcome of assessment and the evaluation of patient care.

·         Measure, monitor and record patient’s vital signs. Reporting adverse signs/result immediately to a registered practitioner or Doctor.

·         Take immediate action and respond appropriately to uncontrolled symptoms of pain, nausea, thirst, constipation, restlessness, agitation, anxiety and depression.

The role advertised has an on-call requirement, this will only be applicable if there is a shortfall of out of hours staff. 

Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust operates an On-Call service to ensure continuous, safe care for patients at Liverpool Women’s Hospital. Staff members who are required to participate in the On-Call rota must be able to attend the hospital within 30 minutes of being called and therefore must live within a travel distance that allows them to reach the hospital within a 30-minute journey time.

Where this is not possible, individuals may make alternative arrangements to ensure compliance with the 30-minute requirement, for example temporarily staying with a friend, family member, or in other suitable accommodation located within close proximity to the hospital,  any such arrangements would be at the individual’s own expense.
