Job overview

Clinical Psychologist (Trainee Clinical Psychologist Manager) - Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme, University of Liverpool

We are seeking experienced and highly motivated Clinical Psychologists to join the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme at the University of Liverpool in a trainee management role.

The programme's Trainee Clinical Psychologists are employed by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and are therefore subject to the same employment policies and procedures as all Trust staff. Working closely with the Programme's Clinical Director, post holders will provide a key link between Mersey Care and the trainee cohort, ensuring trainees receive effective managerial support throughout their doctoral training.

These posts will be employed by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and based within the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme at the University of Liverpool.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be responsible for the day-to-day management and support of Trainee Clinical Psychologists, including:

·         Attendance and absence management

·         Maternity, paternity and other leave arrangements

·         Processing and oversight of trainee expenses

·         Supporting trainees with employment-related matters

·         Liaison with relevant Trust services and programme staff

Working for our organisation

Mersey Care is one of the largest trusts providing physical health and mental health services in the North West, serving more than 1.4 million people across our region and are also commissioned for services that cover the North West, North Wales and the Midlands.

We offer specialist inpatient and community services that support physical and mental health and specialist inpatient mental health, learning disability, addiction and brain injury services. Mersey Care is one of only three trusts in the UK that offer high secure mental health facilities.

At the heart of all we do is our commitment to ‘perfect care’ – care that is safe, effective, positively experienced, timely, equitable and efficient. We support our staff to do the best job they can and work alongside service users, their families, and carers to design and develop future services together. We’re currently delivering a programme of organisational and service transformation to significantly improve the quality of the services we provide and safely reduce cost as we do so.

Flexible working requests will be considered for all roles.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

In addition to trainee management responsibilities, post holders will be expected to contribute to the wider activities of the doctoral programme as required. This may include involvement in marking, assessments and other academic or professional tasks that support programme delivery.

Applicants must be experienced Clinical Psychologists with a strong understanding of NHS employment processes and workforce management. Previous management experience within the NHS is essential, and experience within Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust would be particularly advantageous.

You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, be able to work collaboratively across organisations, and demonstrate a commitment to supporting the development and wellbeing of trainee clinical psychologists.

We are currently offering three posts at 11.25 hours per week. However, applicants interested in alternative working patterns or different hours are encouraged to apply, as flexibility may be considered for suitable candidates.

These rewarding roles offer the opportunity to shape the development of future clinical psychologists - join a collaborative, supportive programme and contribute to nationally recognised clinical psychology training. Help shape the future of the profession!
