LAS ST3 in Histopathology

NHS Medical & Dental: Specialty Trainee (ST3 +)

We are one of the busiest university teaching hospital trusts in North West England. We manage three hospitals based on two sites: the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital.  Our hospitals have often been at the forefront of medical breakthroughs during our long history at the heart of the city.

We will soon be opening a new state of the art hospital. The new hospital will provide every patient with a single bedroom with en-suite facilities. We believe that modern healthcare is as much about privacy, comfort and dignity as it is about pioneering treatments and cutting-edge technology. Applications are invited for a full-time post for a Locum against service at the ST3 level in Histopathology. This post should be attractive to either overseas trainees who have completed the part1 FRCPath with a vision to gain some experience in the UK and eventually appear for the part 2 FRCPath, or to UK pathologists who have achieved training upto ST2 level and are hoping to pursue a career in Histopathology. Liverpool Clinical Laboratories (LCL) was formed in 2013 as a multidisciplinary NHS pathology service, jointly owned by the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals and University Hospital Aintree, delivering a high quality service to the two Trusts and community services in Liverpool. The Histopathology team receives the full range of complex/tertiary and routine material across a range of subspecialities like breast, GI, cardiothoracic, Dermatopathology, gynae pathology etc. The candidate will work in a friendly department with enthusiastic and supportive sub-specialist teams.

The post will be based at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.  The Department provides undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and there are close links with academic pathology in the University of Liverpool. Any candidate who is unable to work full time for personal reasons will be eligible to be considered for the post.

Liverpool is a friendly, vibrant city with a wide range of cultural activities and easy access to North Wales and the Lake District. A new £450 million hospital, including a laboratory block, is being built adjacent to the current Royal Liverpool University Hospital and will open in 2019.
