Job overview
An exciting opportunity to become the Principal Pharmacist – Clinical Trials within dynamic cancer hospital pharmacy team. This job would be suitable for a person seeking a rewarding and challenging job looking to ensure that our cancer patients get access to clinical trial medicines. We have an extensive portfolio of trials within the Trust and new trials being opened regularly.
The postholder will be involved in multi professional groups looking at how use of protocols and guidelines can be improved within the Trust.
Oncology experience is desirable however not essential as full training can be offered in house.
The postholder will be part of a fabulous team with pharmacist prescribers, medicines management technicians specialist pharmacists, rotational technicians, assistants and a cohort of band six pharmacists. We have close links with BOPA and LJMU.

Main duties of the job
You will be the pharmacy lead and be responsible for all aspects of
pharmaceutical input in accordance with legal requirements and Good
Clinical Practice (GCP) relating to the handling dispensing, and disposal
of medicinal products in clinical trials. You will also be the lead facilitator
for research and audit projects for the department.
You will be the operational lead in the pharmacy:
a) To safeguard subjects, health care professionals and the Healthcare
Provider Organisation (HPO) by ensuring that IMPs are appropriate for
use and are procured, handled, stored, and used safely and correctly.
b) To ensure that IMPs are managed and dispensed to subjects in
accordance with the duly approved current protocol.
c) To ensure that all pharmacy clinical trials procedures comply with
relevant guidelines and regulations.

Knowledge and Expertise
Essential criteria
- Financial forecasting and managing drug expenditure to include contribution to delivering cost improvement programs
- Significant experience of leading and managing change projects to improve services
- Experience of contributing to the delivery of medication governance and medication safety
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in haemato-oncology or solid tumour pharmacy
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience delivering education and training, and providing supervision to support the development of multidisciplinary team
- Recent evidence of delivering efficiencies
- Experience of working across organisational boundaries and managing complex stakeholder relationships
- Experience of setting and delivering objectives
Qualifications

- MSc/Diploma Pharmacy Practice
