Job overview

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and forward-thinking radiology department, providing specialist oncological imaging and reporting services to support patients across medical oncology, radiation oncology, haemato-oncology and palliative care. The role offers opportunities to contribute to the reporting and governance of PET/CT and nuclear medicine studies, alongside broader diagnostic radiology practice.

The radiology department at CCC provides a comprehensive oncological imaging service. CCC-Liverpool is equipped with CT, MRI, PET/CT, Ultrasound, Plain Film and Interventional Radiology facilities. The CCC-Wirral site offers general radiology, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT services.

CCC also operates the Paddington Community Diagnostic Centre, providing opportunities to undertake general radiology reporting alongside specialist oncology imaging. Out-of-hours reporting is supported through an independent teleradiology service.

Applicants should hold an ARSAC licence, or demonstrate a commitment to obtaining one, and will be supported in developing their expertise in molecular imaging and oncological PET/CT reporting as part of this role.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will play a key role within the Radiology Department, providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to support The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre's specialist cancer pathways. Core responsibilities will include reporting cross-sectional imaging examinations, including CT, MRI and PET/CT studies (subject to training and accreditation), participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, protocol development, image vetting, and providing expert radiological advice to clinical colleagues across oncology, haematology and palliative care services.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, audit, teaching and clinical governance activities, supporting the continued growth and innovation of imaging services across the Trust. There will be opportunities to develop subspecialty interests aligned to departmental and organisational priorities.

The Radiology Department operates across the CCC-Liverpool, CCC-Wirral and Paddington Community Diagnostic Centre sites, providing comprehensive oncological and diagnostic imaging services.

The post is offered on a 10 Programmed Activity job plan (8 DCC, 2 SPA). Direct Clinical Care activities will primarily comprise reporting sessions for oncological and general diagnostic imaging, participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, and associated clinical support activities.
