The PharmaC team at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has an exciting opportunity for passionate and dedicated individuals who are looking for a new challenge, the next step in their career.

You will be joining a diverse and professional team, who take pride in providing a high quality and efficient medicines supply service to the Trust, to ensure that patients receive the best care. 

The PharmaC team is looking for an inspirational, dynamic leader, passionate about the development of safe, patient centred care to become the Superintendent Pharmacist in our multi-site service. The main base for the role is the new build, state of the art Clatterbridge Cancer Centre (CCC) in Liverpool city centre with time spent at the CCC Wirral site and at our Liverpool University Hospital sites at The Royal Liverpool and Aintree. 

Our friendly pharmacy team takes pride in the provision of excellent care to patients across the North West (including North Wales and the Isle of Man).

The ideal candidate will have;

·         Outstanding communication and organisational skills,

·         The ability to prioritise in changing environment,

·         An eye for detail,

·         Excellent leadership abilities, being able to motivate and enthuse the team.

 

Pharmacy experience in either hospital or community pharmacy is desirable, but full training will be given to successful candidates, as well as plenty of opportunities for development.

Main duties of the job

This role would suit a registered pharmacist with the drive, passion and leadership qualities to deliver innovative, patient centred services, working collaboratively with the team but able to make decision in a fast paced environment. They must have extensive senior leadership experience of service development, governance, medicines safety and quality improvement alongside a good understanding of NHS strategy and policy. This is an exciting time to join the team as we look to embed recent changes and further transform our ways of working.

This will be a rewarding role which will include participation in a wide variety of projects and groups making it an ideal career opportunity to further develop both operational and management skills in a supportive and welcoming environment.

The successful candidate will be supported by the Head of Pharmacy Operations to shape the future direction of the service and to implement the agreed strategy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a role model, inspiring and giving direction to our pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants that deliver a range of pharmacy operations including procurement, dispensary and ward-based services. Working with the department’s senior management team, you will optimise arrangements at the interface with the Trust’s clinical pharmacy services and contribute to the medicines management agenda. Our collective aims with our partnering NHS Trusts are to promote a collaborative culture within pharmacy and with colleagues across the Trust, playing a significant part in ensuring pharmacy services develop strategically in line with the Trust’s objectives, including cost improvements and budgetary management.

Essential criteria
  • Vocational Masters degree in pharmacy
  • Registered with GPhC
Desirable criteria
  • post grad leadership qualification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of changing NHS environment and government initiatives
  • Experience in implementation of NHS policy and guidance
  • Specialist clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge relating to promotion of high quality, effective and cost effective procurement and use of medicines
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and their influence on current practice
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy (or equivalent)
  • Experience of delivering a high quality pharmacy service
  • Experience in managing inpatient dispensing / outpatient / retail pharmacy services
