Job overview

The Clatterbridge Pharmacy Ltd (PharmaC) team is expanding, and we have a number of opportunities to offer to passionate and dedicated individuals who are looking for a new challenge, the next step in their Pharmacy career, or just something different. The main base for the role is a purpose built dispensing and procurement facility within the new build, state of the art Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Liverpool city centre with time spent at the hub site on Wirral.

Our friendly pharmacy team take pride in providing a high quality and efficient medicines supply service to the Trust as well as other partners and in providing excellent care to patients across the North West (including North Wales and the Isle of Man).

The ideal candidate will have;

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills,
  • An eye for detail,
  • The ability to manage queries and issues promptly, escalating when necessary,
  • The ability to motivate and enthuse the team.

Pharmacy experience in either community or hospital pharmacy is desirable, but full training will be given to successful candidates, as well as plenty of opportunities for development and progression.

Main duties of the job

Pharmacist - Full time – 40 hours per week 

This is an exceptional career opportunity for a passionate and driven Pharmacist wishing to gain a breadth of experience in a unique setting. As a Responsible Pharmacist within our company, you will work within both the outpatient and the main dispensary processing inpatient, discharge and outpatient prescriptions.  You will be joining the team at an exciting time as we look to embed recent changes, such as our newly established delivery service, and further transform our ways of working to expand and to support The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust and other partners with their ambitions.

This will be a rewarding role which will include participation in a wide variety of projects, making it an ideal career opportunity to develop both operational and management skills in a supportive and welcoming environment.

The successful candidate will be a role model, inspiring and giving direction to our pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants that deliver a range of pharmacy operations including procurement, dispensary and ward-based services. Part of our strategy is to align our workplans with the visions and objectives of Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, to collaboratively provide cancer patients under their care with the best possible medicines supply service whilst delivering a cost effective and quality service to the Trust

The Clatterbridge Pharmacy Ltd (as a subsidiary of the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre) are here to deliver excellent cancer care to a population of 2.4million non-surgical cancer patients across Cheshire and Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire. Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check before employment can commence. This includes both spent and unspent convictions, as well as information held by local police deemed as relevant to the role. Employment is conditional on satisfactory DBS clearance.

It is essential that you possess an MPharm degree or equivalent. Applications from current pre-registration pharmacists will be considered and registration with GPhC is essential upon your start date.

This salary commences on the first pay point and increases after 1 year upon successive completion of objectives.

  • Excellent clinical / pharmaceutical knowledge relating to promotion of high quality, effective and cost effective use of medicines

  • Record of personal development.
Desirable criteria
  • Post registration experience / documented clinical experience
  • Experience of delivering a high quality service
  • Human resource management experience.
  • Experience in managing outpatient / retail pharmacy services
