Job overview
The post holder will support and assist the Corporate and R&D accountant with the preparation of
monthly management accounts, undertaking variance analysis and trend analysis as appropriate
and preparing financial forecasts in conjunction with operational managers.
The post holder reports to the Corporate & R&D Accountant and will assist with the provision of
financial advice and support to Divisional Managers, Budget Holders, the wider Finance team and
other Trust stakeholders. To advise the Corporate and R&D accountant regarding any unresolved
matters.
The post holder will assist the Corporate & R&D Accountant with preparing the annual budgets
during the budget setting process for designated areas of responsibility.
The post holder will deputise for the Corporate R&D accountant as required.
The post holder is also required to work autonomously, with minimal supervision, ensuring their
workload is managed and key deadlines adhered to.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Demonstrate progression toward CCAB or CIMA qualification. (AAT finalist as a minimum)
- • Willing to undertake further training as applicable to the post
- • Evidence of continuing professional development

Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Experience working in a relevant financial environment
- • Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate useful finance information from large volumes of data in accordance with strict timetables
- • Experience in presenting information in numerous formats to different audiences
- • Experience of working to strict deadlines
- • Knowledge and understanding of fundamental accounting principles
- • Ability to plan own workload in order to meet strict weekly, monthly and annual deadlines and reassess workload for changing priorities
- • Ability to work under pressure with constant interruptions at the same time as using considerable prolonged concentration
- • Experienced in use of information management and technology
- • Good understanding of NHS financial regime, policy and environment.
