Job overview

Postholder to provide Neuropsychiatry services, at the Walton Centre and also Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network  (CMRN). 

Providing outpatient clinics and neuropsychiatry liaison consultations to inpatients on the wards of the hospital, in addition to two Rehabilitation Units based in Seddon Unit at St Helens and Ward 5 at Broadgreen which is part of the CMRN.

Participate in the management of the Neuropsychiatry part of the CMRN and the Walton Centre.

 

 

Main duties of the job

Undertaking of weekly clinics in The Walton Centre, with the referrals for clinics made by in house consultant staff.

Provide neuropsychiatry liaison consultations to inpatients on the wards of the hospital.  Participate in the management of the Neuropsychiatry service part of the CMRN and the Walton Centre.

Deliver weekly teaching and case conferences which take place at the Walton Centre and supervision of the nurse specialists attached to the service.

Liaison and work into the Mersey Care Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre.

Person specification

Qualifications & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Medical qualifications recognised in the UK.
  • Inclusion on the GMC and Specialist Register or eligible for such inclusion, or Specialist Register within 6 months of completing CCT
  • Approved under Section 12 of the MHA 1983 or willing to apply for such approval
  • Registration with Royal College for CPD and of good standing
Desirable criteria
  • MRC Psych or equivalent
  • Evidence of at least one year’s experience within neuropsychiatry
  • Evidence of taking a lead in service review and development.
  • Evidence of a developing area of special interest

Audit & Research

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of importance of principles of clinical governance, including areas such as audit and research
  • Registered with Royal College of Psychiatrists for CPD or willing to apply for such.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of research, including publications

Communication Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team

Teaching

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of the importance of teaching and education

  • Evidence of teaching
