Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist

NHS AfC: Band 7

Job overview

We are looking for a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Occupational Therapy Service at The Walton Centre.   We are a team of occupational therapists, assistants and a degree apprentice providing care across the acute inpatient wards covering neurology and neurosurgery.

Evidence of service development and change management is essential as is the ability to collaborate with patients, families and other colleagues.

You will be part of the wider Therapy Service at the Walton Centre and be supported by the Head of Therapies, Acute Clinical Lead and your Occupational Therapy peers to integrate into your new role.  You will be supported to access additional education and training as required.

Main duties of the job

  • Establish and manage a complex clinical caseload as appropriate to the service
  • To influence, lead and manage the acute Occupational Therapy service ensuring high level clinical intervention and evidenced based care.
  • To work collaboratively with other clinicians, including medical and nursing staff to influence service development and ensure quality of care is delivered
  • To provide clinical education and training to other health care professionals
  • Influence research, innovation and professional development for self and others
