Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Band 8a Full Time / 1.0 WTE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our paediatric senior nursing team and help shape the future of neonatal care. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in advanced neonatal nursing practice and a V300 non-medical prescribing qualification.

We are looking for a motivated, dedicated nurse or midwife who is ready to bring senior-level leadership and management expertise to this influential role. You will be passionate about delivering exceptional neonatal care, able to build strong professional relationships and committed to leading with confidence and compassion.

Our 15-cot Level 2 Neonatal Unit at Whiston Hospital includes 2 High Dependency cots and 13 Special Care cots. The team provides highly skilled neonatal care, including CPAP/BIPAP, short-term ventilation and passive cooling before transfer to a Level 3 unit.

Main duties of the job

This role also offers the opportunity to work across an integrated pathway of care. Our 4-bed Transitional Care Service helps babies remain with their mothers on the postnatal wards, avoiding unnecessary separation wherever possible. Our Children’s Hospital at Home Team supports babies and families in the community, including those requiring home oxygen or ongoing care. Close collaboration with midwifery colleagues ensures that babies on the postnatal wards receive safe, responsive and high-quality care.

As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you
will have the opportunity to influence practice, develop and deliver education, lead unit-based initiatives and make a visible contribution to service improvement, research and innovation.

This is an exciting time to join the service. Our
vision is to expand the current workforce and develop a seven-day ANNP rota. You will receive protected time to develop and demonstrate all four pillars of advanced practice, enabling you to grow professionally while helping to shape a modern, sustainable neonatal service.

A
comprehensive induction and supportive mentoring programme will be provided, giving you the confidence and foundation to thrive in the role.
