Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Audiologist join our management and leadership team within the Head and Neck Surgery directorate. 

The successful applicants will be highly motivated and self-driven with the passion to manage and lead the audiology services department across both St Helens, Whiston and Newton Hospitals

You will have proven senior leadership experience and expert clinical knowledge. The post holder will be expected to maintain a clinical caseload across sites.   

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical, professional, and managerial leadership within the service, ensuring that action is taken at all levels to empower clinical staff in providing demonstrably high standards of care in a clean and safe environment.

Has overall accountability within their areas of responsibility for the monitoring, review, improvement and provision of evidence and assurance relating to patient care.

Acute Care

Providing emergency and maternity services at Whiston, Southport and Ormskirk hospitals, and medical and surgical specialties across all our sites.

Providing primary care services at Marshalls Cross Medical Centre situated in St Helens Hospital.

Community Services

Providing adult community services for St Helens and a wheelchair service in Chorley, South Ribble, and West Lancashire. Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • AHP Registered of Relevant Profession
  • Recognised leadership management qualification or Mentorship in Clinical Practice equivalent Level 6 or Level 7
  • Evidence of commitment to continuous learning and application in practice
  • Professional clinical knowledge acquired through a degree, supplemented by diploma specialist training, management qualification or equivalent experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Substantial management/leadership experience
  • Experience of working within the service and/or specialty
  • Experience of working/ liaising with agencies across the health economy
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of Health Policy and Professional AHP
  • Experience of leading or facilitating service improvements
  • Experience in improving patient safety and quality of care

  • Experience in undertaking research

  • Occasional requirement to exert moderate physical effort for short periods during a given time when moving and transferring patients using hoists and other lifting aids.
  • Required to move patients on trolleys and in wheelchairs
  • Required to concentrate when dealing with detailed information relating to care plans, complaints and / or investigations.
  • Working closely with patients and their carers
  • Supporting patients who have been given bad news
  • Supporting staff and patients with complaints
  • Frequent exposure to highly unpleasant conditions with blood and body fluids.
