The Surgical Care Group is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated dispatch co-ordinator to provide an efficient service ensuring that all Pre-operative assessment, GP and Joint, Colorectal and Gynaecology school letters are quality checked and sent out in a timely manner. Accurate recording of incoming post. To carry out clerical duties within the Department, call centre cover as needed and completion of telephone reminder service in accordance with the relevant Mersey West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust’s Policies and Procedures.

Main duties of the job
This demanding role will require excellent time management and organisational skills. The successful candidate must be able to prioritise their own workload and will require a flexible approach to their duties.
The post holder should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages. Ability to use a range of computer systems to collate information and escalate potential problem areas. Training will be given where necessary for internal IT systems.
There is a need to be able to work to tight deadlines and withstand the pressure of a busy department and it is essential that you are able to work on your own initiative.

Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation, freeing up space for more unwell patients. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE level for English and Maths or equivalent experience
- NVQ in Business Administration Level 3 or equivalent knowledge through formal training or experience
