Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join our large, friendly, multi-disciplinary Audiology team. The post is open to Qualified Audiologists and Audiology BSc/PTP students who are in the process of completing their final year.

The post-holder will participate in both the assessment and rehabilitation of adults with hearing difficulties and should have a thorough understanding of patient management systems and hearing aid technology. The department provides a comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative service to the population of Wirral and surrounding areas as well as supporting ENT clinic

The department operates extended working hours enabling staff to work a 4 day week.

Main duties of the job

The Audiologist will autonomously undertake all routine audiological and rehabilitation procedures, including direct referrals for hearing aids and open access referrals from GPs, within outpatient, community and domiciliary environments.  They will supervise assistant practitioners, apprentices and junior members of staff, and assist with the clinical supervision of BSc students.

Essential criteria
  • Applicants must have a BSc in Audiology, or equivalent audiology qualifications Applications are welcome from newly qualified audiologists
  • You must be registered or in the process of registering with RCCP and BAA.
Desirable criteria
  • Good communication Skills
  • Experience of working in UK NHS setting as either a student or qualified audiologist

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • BAAT part I &II, O/H BTEC/ONC/NVQ3 in MPPM, BSc(Hons) in Audiology or equivalent
  • Significant experience as a trainee audiologist. Ability to work without supervision in the diagnostic and rehabilitation areas outlined in the job description.
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Ability to use all routine audiology equipment and associated software
  • Ability to perform, analyse, interpret and report routine audiology tests
  • Manual dexterity and fine manipulation skills
  • Listening and counselling skills
  • Clear oral communication
  • Diagnostic- Understanding underlying principles and ability to perform the tests outlined in the job description to the required standards
  • Re-habilitation.-Ability to appropriately set up, fit, evaluate and maintain the full range of NHS hearing aids
  • Have or be prepared to obtain state registration with RCCP or HCPC
