Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a valued member of the team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with children and those most proximal to them, to reach positive outcomes. You will have the ability to manage a demanding workload in order to provide an efficient and effective service. You will be a confident, self-directed individual with a strong team focus as well as being able to work independently when required. You will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills in order to maintain our exceptional standards of care when liaising with patients and both internal and external agencies.

Speech and Language Therapy degree or a recognised equivalent
Registered member of RCSLT
Registered member of HCPC
Evidence of having completed some short courses

Desirable criteria

Has undertaken additional study e.g. dysphagia training, language educators course

Experience & Knowledge

Can manage own caseload with minimal support
Has experience of working with complex cases alongside or with supervision from a highly specialist therapist
Knowledge of current trends in the management of communication and/or swallowing
Experience of work in a variety of settings

Peer MDT diagnostic decision-making, with the support of the senior clinical MDT where required
Tech-enabled outcome report writing
Outcome calls with parents and families (via video call)

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.
