Job overview
Ward 24 are looking for a Health Care Assistant to join our friendly team and help assist the Registered Nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team in implementing the patients care plan.
Health Care Assistant’s are required to work within the multidisciplinary team ensuring the department is a safe, clean and welcoming place for patients, visitors and staff.
Day to day tasks will primarily include supporting with a range of personal care activities and supporting individual patient needs during their hospital admission and promoting the physical and emotional well-being of the individuals under their care.
Main duties of the job
- Provide and support patients as necessary with personal care activities e.g. washing, bathing, toileting, feeding.
- Recording patient information within the Electronic Patient Record (Cerner).
- Observe patients and reports any changes to a registered professional for review.
- Undertake a range of basic housekeeping and administrative duties within the clinical environment.

Desirable criteria
- Previous experience and training of manual handling patients using appropriate equipment
- Can demonstrate an understanding of the importance of promoting patient independence
- Able to provide support and reassurance to patients
Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
Essential criteria
- Level 2 qualification (e.g. GCSE Grade A-C, NVQ2) in Health & Social Care OR A good standard of general education to GCSE level and the agreement to undertake the relevant L2 qualification on appointment
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in a clinical environment
- Experience working in the NHS
