Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a part time, Consultant Orthodontist to join a very enthusiastic Orthodontic team  at the Wirral University Teaching Hospital, Merseyside.

The successful candidate would be expected to work closely with both Orthodontic and Oral & Maxillofacial Consultant colleagues to provide a fully comprehensive orthodontic service to the patients of the Wirral.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC).
  • On the GDC Specialist Register in Orthodontics
  • Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation of eligibility for a CCST in Orthodontics
Desirable criteria
  • MSc or equivalent in orthodontics

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Successful completion of an SAC-approved minimum three year training programme in Orthodontics.
  • Membership in Orthodontics (M.Orth) or equivalent.
  • Intercollegiate Fellowship Examination (ISFE) in Orthodontics or equivalent at time of appointment.
  • Successful completion of an SAC – approved minimum two-year post-CCST training, or within 6 months of completion
  • Current holders of an NHS or honorary NHS consultant contract in orthodontics are eligible to be shortlisted.

Teaching

Essential criteria
  • Experience of postgraduate and undergraduate teaching Experience of teaching junior staff.

Audit

Essential criteria
  • Effective participation in clinical audit.

Research

Essential criteria
  • Research relevant to the specialty.
Desirable criteria
  • Publications in refereed journals

Management

Essential criteria
  • Management of clinical service.

Personal

Essential criteria
  • Work independently.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Team skills.
