Full time - 37.5 hours per week (Your paid hours will be 37.5 hours per week. As a B6 pharmacist your hours will be worked as per departmental out of hours rotas including weekends, evenings, nights and Bank Holidays. Agenda for change enhancements will apply. Regular hours will be worked during departmental opening hours 8am – 9pm Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm weekends (currently 1 in 6). In addition, you will support the current department rota for working 9am-5pm Bank Holidays (usually 1-2 per year). Again agenda for change enhancements will apply. It is important to note that hours of work are subject to change to meet the needs of our patients. Pharmacists are expected to maintain a professional appearance that aligns with the standards of the Pharmacy Department and wider Trust. At present, a standard uniform is not provided, and staff are responsible for ensuring that their attire is clean, appropriate, and suitable for clinical duties. Pharmacists may choose to wear scrubs, provided they are green in colour as per the national uniform standard to ensure consistency. Scrubs must be of a professional standard and worn in accordance with infection prevention and control policies Optional for Band 6 Pharmacists being appointed from Trainee Pharmacist. Although we state your start date as xx/xx//2020, this will be dependent on registration with the GPhC. If you fail to register before this start date, then this post will be held open for a period of 3 months only during which time you will be employed on your current salary as a Band 6 Pharmacist)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated pharmacists who want to be at the cutting edge of Pharmacy services to join our well supported Rotational Clinical Pharmacist Team.

You will undertake a varied rotational training programme working as a member of our Clinical Pharmacy Team providing ward-based pharmacy support across the Trust in various clinical specialities and operational services which will provide you with a solid foundation for your future career.

As part of the department’s commitment to supporting CPD activities, a comprehensive induction and local training programme is provided. Undertaking a well-regarded Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy is also encouraged.

Current trainee pharmacists are welcome to apply; previous hospital experience is not essential as extensive training is available.

Main duties of the job

Our Rotational Clinical Pharmacists provide a high quality, patient-centred service ensuring the safe, effective, legal and accurate use of medicines across the trust. You will be self-motivated and organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will able to work effectively alone and as part of a team.

 This will include:

  • Providing a safe and efficient clinical pharmacy service to hospital wards and departments in accordance with departmental policies and contributing to the development of pharmacy services as required.
  • Providing education and training support for nursing staff and patients and providing pharmaceutical advice to clinicians.
  • Delivering a comprehensive on-call service, to identify and meet the pharmaceutical care needs of patients, 24 hours a day, including bank holidays and weekends.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • Vocational Masters Degree in pharmacy and one year pre-registration training experience
  • Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • 1 year pre-registration training providing supervised experience (in either hospital or community pharmacy)
  • Experience using pharmacy computer systems for stock control and labelling
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Member of the UKCPA or other specialist interest groups
  • Hospital experience including medicines information, dispensing and aseptic services rotations
  • Experience using JAC stock control systems
  • Experience of electronic prescribing systems
