Job overview

Ward 14,  is a 37 bed ward specialising in care for surgical colorectal and urology  patients (elective and emergency), emergency surgical patients and intestinal failure patients. Our ward includes 11 Enhanced recovery beds and 11 beds for surgical patients requiring specialist nutritional support.

We  are a supportive and caring team and we regularly receive positive patient feedback for our care quality and high standards. We have an experienced nursing team and multidisciplinary team  who can support you to develop a wide range of knowledge and skills. 

We are looking for motivated and hardworking individuals with excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn and commitment  to high quality nursing care.  

Newly qualified nurses are also invited to apply because we can offer full preceptorship support.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • 1st Level NMC Registration
  • Evidence of Professional Development
  • Suitable for newly qualified or experienced staff nurse
  • Experience of maintaining accurate records
  • Relevant clinical knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
  • Willing to undertake NMC Assessor and mentorship
  • Relevant Degree or willing to register to work towards degree
  • Relevant or willingness to undertake relevant module/course
  • NHS Experience
  • Awareness of Health Policies and the changing NHS environment

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of evidence based practice
  • Good organisational/time management skills
  • Ability to deal with an acute workload
  • Good communication skills written and verbal
  • Ability to recognise the importance of team work
