Job overview

An exciting opportunity for a new Team Leader has arisen within our DoLS Team.  The post is a secondment/fixed term for 8 months due to service needs.
 
Provide leadership and specialist knowledge and advice in respect of the Mental Capacity Act for the University Health Board across a range of delivery functions.
 
The Team Leader will coordinate the Best Interest Assessors with regards to allocation and the LPS/DoLS process.
 
Be responsible for designing, organising, delivering and evaluating bespoke training and staff development programmes relating to Mental Capacity Act (MCA) 2005, including the Liberty Protection Safeguards (DoLS) to Health care professionals across the UHB.
 
The Team Leader will be responsible for co-ordinating cases which are presented at the Court of Protection, providing advice and expertise to staff across all professionals working within the UHB.

Main duties of the job

The role will be to work with the Supervisory Body and the Head of Safeguarding to embed systems and processes across the University Health Board to ensure the UHB meets its legislative requirements in relation to Mental Capacity Act (MCA) & Liberty Protection Safeguards (currently Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).   

To work closely with other Supervisory Bodies, Managing Authorities and other health and social care professionals on behalf of the UHB in order to manage the LPS/DoLS assessment and authorisation process.

  • Possess specialist knowledge of MCA 2005 and LPS/DoLS and Mental Health Act 2007 in the context of clinical service delivery
Desirable criteria
  • Degree level or equivalent in a health/social care discipline at Masters Level (or working towards)
