Job overview

There are two posts available across RTE District Nursing Team although the post holder may be required to work across both Rhondda and Taff Localities to meet the needs of the Service. 

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced District Nurse to apply for the demanding role of District Nurse Team Leader.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will manage and lead a very busy team of District Nurses ensuring the seamless and safe delivery of 24/7 District Nursing care to a large caseload of acute and chronically ill patients. 

There is a minimum requirement for a highly flexible and enthusiastic approach to this challenging role as well as an ability to travel between sites in a timely manner.

Qualifications/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • Diploma/Degree in CHS [District Nursing] Specialist Practitioner DN
  • Nurse Prescriber
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching and Presentation Skills
  • Working towards or achieved Masters qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as a Band 6 District Nurse or above
  • Confident and competent in a wide range of clinical skills including palliative care, chronic disease management and wound management
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within health and social service systems

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • A high level of interpersonal and communication skills; Broad in-depth knowledge of all aspects of health issues; Working knowledge of Safeguarding procedures; Analytical and judgemental skills enhancing the decision making process to resolve complex issues / situations
Desirable criteria
  • Local knowledge of statutory and voluntary services
