We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, passionate and committed pharmacist to support our pharmacy services across CTMUHB.

In this stimulating role you will work closely with, and be supported by, highly skilled and experienced pharmacy teams. The role will follow a rotational programme across the CTMUHB footprint to build your clinical knowledge and experience different specialities. The successful candidate will be based at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend to contribute to on call rota and weekend services.

Princess of Wales Hospital is located off the M4 in Bridgend, with easy access from both the West and the East corners of Wales.

Main duties of the job

This role provides an exciting opportunity to build on previous pharmacy experience to enhance your clinical knowledge and medicines management skills within secondary care.  Successful candidates will provide a clinical pharmacy service to wards which may include Medicine, Acute Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, COTE, ITU and Mental Health.  Duties will also include dispensary based work where we service a wide range of out-patient clinics.  This is an excellent opportunity to further develop and hone your clinical pharmacy skills in a dynamic working environment.  There is opportunity to contribute to the education and training of junior pharmacists and trainees. 

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be able to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team across all three sites in the health board.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Vocational Master’s Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical or Hospital Pharmacy, or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Good knowledge of medicines management.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • MSc in Clinical Pharmacy.
  • Other clinical qualification (certificate/diploma).
  • Evidence of building your portfolio for RPS Faculty.
  • Independent prescriber
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post registration pharmacy experience
  • Experience of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
  • Hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Broad experience of clinical pharmacy.
  • Experience in primary care pharmacy

Essential criteria
  • Mentoring and Appraisal skills.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Effective organisational and prioritising skills.
  • Skilled negotiator and facilitator.
