Job Overview
· The Communications & Engagement Manager is the operational communications and engagement lead for CTM UHB, ensuring an effective, responsive and high-quality service is provided to internal and external audiences.
· They are responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of communications activities and projects, including events, campaigns, media handling, and engagement programmes.
· They have specific responsibility for the development and delivery of a forward-thinking social media strategy, working closely with the digital lead to co-design content plans and activities that employ emerging technologies and practices.
Main duties of the job
Communications and media
- Oversee the health board’s press office function
- Develop pro-active media releases and opportunities to promote the work of CTM UHB
- Devise and lead the implementation of a social media strategy
- Plan and manage complex communications activities, projects, campaigns and events
- Coordinate internal corporate communications activities and events.
- Work with digital communications colleagues to ensure the health board’s website and intranet are accessible, accurate and useful resources
- Support the development and delivery of content that supports and enables the work of the health board’s charity.

- Supervise the communications and engagement officers
Engagement
- Develop and deliver public engagement resources, activities, events and plans
General
- Ensure the delivery of the CTMUHB Communications and Engagement strategy
- Participate in the out of hours/on call rota function. Undertake occasional weekend and evening duties, as required, in line with the business’s needs.
Expert advice and guidance
- Provide expertise to health board project teams and care groups, offering specialist advice and guidance, and embedding excellent communications practice into the planning and delivery of work.
- Advise senior leaders, including executive directors and Board members, on communications and engagement issues and best practice.

Essential criteria
- Relevant degree (e.g. Media, Journalism, PR, Marketing or English) or the equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
Desirable criteria
- Desirable Relevant Public Relations or Marketing qualification (CIPR, CIM)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of delivering communication and engagement activities within an in-house team or agency communications team.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within NHS communications
