Job overview
An opportunity has arisen within Cwm Taf Morgannwg's Bank and agency department.
The position of a phlebotomist has been created to provide phlebotomy duties only, to clinical areas and the phlebotomy teams in Cwm Taf.
We are looking for venepuncture trained staff.
An enthusiastic and adaptable individual with good communication skills, good handwriting and a background in blood sampling duties and patient care.
The applicant will be required working on their own initiative and part of busy teams
At interview the candidate must be able to show evidence of being venepuncture trained and relay examples of experience in this area
Successful candidates will receive further robust training both theoretically and practical within the phlebotomy department to included online learning and blood sampling assessments to ensure that all healthcare workers can participate safely in all blood sampling procedures.

Main duties of the job
A trained phlebotomist is expected to perform a variety of tasks in a professional and caring manner; related to the collection of blood specimens. A high level of concentration and manual dexterity is required to perform these tasks in a safe and efficient manner according to Health Board protocols for venepuncture. Patient identification must be confirmed by direct patient liaison and accurate visual scrutiny of patient ID bands, request forms and sample labels.
This trained person is expected to perform a variety of tasks in a professional manner. These tasks will require a high level of concentration in their undertaking. They will be required to handle biological specimens, in accordance with Health & Safety Protocols and Standard Operating Procedures. These specimens can be of a high risk nature and must be handled when using the provided personal protective equipment.

- NVQ Level II or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience
