We are looking for a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to work in our ambitious Primary Care Mental Health Services.
Applications would be welcomed from Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists with experience of working in relevant mental health settings. The successful applicant will need to have the relevant qualification to undertake assessments under Part 1 of the Welsh Assembly Government Mental Health Measure.

Main duties of the job
To improve access to mental health care for people with mild to moderate or stable severe mental health problems by delivering holistic assessment, and evidence based care to clients within the context of a multi-disciplinary multiagency primary mental health service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role will involve:
• Assessing people’s mental health needs within a primary care setting and taking responsibility for a clinical caseload.
• The delivery of brief, short term and low intensity psychological interventions, based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focused approaches, provision of information, CCBT and self-help for people with common mental health disorders and assist in the running of psycho-educational groups.
• Mental Health promotion involving the development of effective relationships between primary care and local communities and other services in the voluntary and statutory sector.
• Provision of support and advice to GPs and other primary care providers.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Mental Health), or Social Worker, Occupational Therapist.
- Evidence of post- registration continuing professional development activity.
Desirable criteria
- Relevant degree level qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of achievement in clinical practice within the area of speciality e.g. primary care, community mental health, Older adults, CAMHs.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in a range of clinical settings.
- Teaching experience
Skills
Essential criteria
- Organisational ability and time management skills.
- Clinical assessment and formulation skills.
- Teaching and presentation skills.
- Ability to facilitate patient groups
Desirable criteria
- Postgraduate training or CBT/counselling skills.
- Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B1)
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and awareness of current evidence base relevant to the area of practice
- Knowledge and experience of delivering of psycho-educational interventions.
- An understanding of resource implications of clinical decision making.
