Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Practitioner within the Haematology and Blood Transfusuion Department at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
The post-holder will work alongside biomedical scientisits (BMS's) and medical laboratory assistants (MLA's) who they will support with receiving, resigetering and processing samples as well as maintaining and operating laboratory equipment and analysers.
Main duties of the job
Candidates will need to have minimum Level 4 Science qualification (e.g HNC/HND in a science area) together with experience of working within a laboratory environment. Experience in automated laboratory medicine, specifically Haematology would be advantageous, but not essential. Candidates will require good communication skills, must be computer literate and be able to work flexibly as part of a wider team of scientists within the department.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across specimen reception, haematology, coagulation and blood transfusion . This is a challenging role but one which provides an opportunity for career progression and personal development.
This post is advertised as Welsh Essential. Candidates need to demonstrate Welsh Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. This isn’t ‘fluency’. Level 3 means being able to communicate in Welsh during routine clinical situations, such as welcoming patients, discussing straightforward aspects of their care and answering routine questions. If you’re comfortable holding everyday conversations in Welsh, we encourage you to apply. Your Welsh language skills will help us provide person-centred care and enable patients to receive services in their language of choice.
