Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 full time band 4 Physiotherapy assistant practitioners to work within the inpatient teams as apart of either the Acute stroke unit in Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Pontyclun or the inpatient rehabilitation in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda Hospital, Tonypandy.
Main duties of the job
You will carry out treatment programs under the guidance of a registered therapist in order to provide rehabilitation and other interventions to facilitate safe discharge. Some clerical and administration tasks will also be undertaken (e.g. keeping records, filing, photocopying). You will be expected to work independently.
A positive and organised approach to rehabilitation is essential. Good communication skills and commitment to team working within a safe, empathetic and supportive environment are also needed.
This is an excellent opportunity for somebody who has previous experience as a therapy or rehabilitation assistant in an NHS or care setting.

Qualifications / Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge acquired through in house training, short course and experience to NVQ 3 level or equivalent plus knowledge of specific patient conditions, forms of therapy, acquired through training, experience
Desirable criteria
- Basic understanding of proper and safe use of therapy equipment
Welsh language skills
Desirable criteria
- Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2).
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working as Band 3 in healthcare or equivalent experience from the leisure or social care sector
- Experience of delivering rehabilitation with patient/service users that require high levels of supervision and advanced communication techniques.
IT & Quality Improvement
Essential criteria
- Standard keyboard skills and familiarity of computer software i.e. word processing, email, Excel
Desirable criteria
- Involvement in service development and experience of data collection and analysis.
