Job overview

We are offering an exciting opportunity for doctors wishing to gain further haematology experience. The post would be suitable for a candidate in the process of applying for national selection for a training post. This is also an excellent opportunity for individuals to work with us to progress via the CESR route. Applications are invited from candidates having completed IMT2 or equivalent who will provide care to Haematology patients. You will receive training and support from designated consultants.

Main duties of the job

This post has arisen to cover the increased workload on the haematology in-patient ward, day case unit, and outpatient clinics. The successful candidate will assist consultant staff in managing haematology in-patients and participate in the management of day-case patients at Nevill Hall and Royal Gwent Hospital’s haematology day units. The post holder will gain experience in sub-specialised clinical services in myeloid, lymphoid, myeloma, and coagulation teams, and will be taught how to perform bone marrow aspirate and trephine biopsies. There is an on-call component attached to this post.
