An exciting opportunity to clinically lead the Gwent Wide Family Intervention Team. FIT is a partnership model created by Health Services and Action for Children as an alternative way of delivering an early, preventative ‘mental health’ service for children aged between 3 and 16 years, and their families. FIT provides high quality, bespoke, psychological interventions for families with emerging emotional, relational and subsequent behavioural difficulties. Involves a commitment to work directly with families in the context where they are ‘living their lives’- their homes, schools, communities- as opposed to  clinic-based interventions. The FIT team works across  five local authority areas of Gwent.

Main duties of the job

The Consultant Clinical / Practitioner Psychologist will be responsible for providing the clinical leadership for the FIT service and the ongoing development of clinical practice within the service. They will join an existing workforce of two Clinical Psychologists and a team of family support practitioners. Their role is to develop and maintain clinical practice within a constantly shifting and evolving clinical landscape.  They will do this through providing ongoing supervision, training, audit, and evaluation. They will also play a key role in ensuring that the FIT service is embedded within the wider partnership agenda around early intervention.

The post holder will be a valued member of the Gwent Child & Family Psychology & Therapies Service, which is a thriving and supportive team with a wide variety of psychological service strands and specialisms.
