Job overview

The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the clinical team within the MSK Transformation service.

The post holder will lead a dynamic team of MSK clinicians in the delivery of the MSK Transformation service, supporting clinicians working in the Primary Care MSK Hub, Minor Injuries Units, Urgent Primary Care and First Contact Practitioner roles.

There is a 30% protected non-clinical time within this role to complete the necessary day-to-day operational running of the department and to lead and contribute to project and service improvement workstreams. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious MSK Physiotherapist with leadership aspirations to play a key role within a newly established, rapidly evolving service. With extensive development opportunities and the chance to make a real impact, this role offers a strong foundation for future progression.

The clinical aspect of this Team Lead role includes MSK triage, empowering patients through supported self-management in line with NHS and government priorities, and leading the delivery of our innovative Lower Back Pain Programme.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

All interviews for this role will be conducted in person only.

Main duties of the job

The team lead role is a 70 / 30 split between clinical and non-clinical work, and the candidate must therefore be able to demonstrate the ability to manage a complex and challenging clinical caseload independently. The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical supervision to staff and students.

Alongside their clinical competence, the team leader is also proficient at staff management and should have a working knowledge of the respective HR policies.  Candidates will require experience in leading teams and/or projects to be considered for this role and in order to balance the clinical and non-clinical demands of this role the post holder will use their skills in organisation and timekeeping.

The team leader will have a close working relationships with the MSK Transformation clinical leads and the administrative team within the MSK Hub. They will work in collaboration with the operational manager and clinical lead physiotherapist to monitor and manage performance.

Excellent communication is an important attribute in the team leader role and the applicants must demonstrate strengths in communication with patients, the public and fellow staff members as well as demonstrating competence in written communication. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this role and applications in Welsh and English are equally welcome.
