Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic, organised, experienced leader to manage the Plaster room within our newly opened Orthopaedic Outpatient Department.

You will be expected to work along side the MDT to support a variety of patients with their casting and brace needs.

You will be the point of escalation for complex patients being the experienced practitioner. 

Main duties of the job

To ensure effective communication with the plaster room team and wider Orthopaedic team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Identify and implement pathways to improve patient safety and experience.

Support with supply and ordering of equipment 

To ensure high standards of practice, infection control and health and safety is maintained at all times.

To ensure the effective running of outpatient clinics and in-servicing to inpatients requiring specialist Plaster Technician care.

To support and develop clinic staff

Clinical experience

Essential criteria
  • Qualified Plaster Technician (British Casting Certificate)
  • Minimum 2 years experience

Leadership experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Ability to work within a MDT
Desirable criteria
  • Experience/exposure in managing budgets
  • Experience in managing stock
  • Leadership qualification

Quality Improvement

Essential criteria
  • Involvement in Quality Improvement projects
Desirable criteria
  • Willingness to develop service

Basic skills

Essential criteria
  • Good organisational skills
  • Experience in supporting new staff
  • Good IT skills
  • Problem solver
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing own clinics
