We operate a 24 hour, 7 day a week service for our patients, the hours/shifts vary dependent on the location, as part of the role of an ACA there will be a requirement to cover out of hours shifts on a relief rota basis, please contact us for further information on the possible shift patterns for the area that you are applying for.

Job overview

We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and passionate Ambulance Care Assistants to transport non-emergency patients, who are frail or need specialist assistance, to and from appointments at hospitals, treatment centres and other similar facilities.

If you have experience of caring for people with proven customer care and communication skills with the public, then we would like to hear from you!

You will need to be flexible, adaptable and have a caring approach.  A good sense of humour and local knowledge of the area will also be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Ambulance Care Assistant involves the transportation of non-urgent patients to and from health/social care premises and private residences. This is a responsible role which requires a professional and caring attitude, as well as teamwork.

You will work in a team of two, or on your own, undertaking duties in a variety of vehicle types.

You need a full UK manual car driving licence, with at least one years driving experience.
(Please note that a maximum of 3 penalty points will be considered for a minor motoring offence only.)

Your role with EEAST PTS would start with a 3 week paid training course (Monday – Friday). The training involves clinical training to be a ‘First Person on Scene’, and patient transport driver training. 

It is your responsibility to attend the training course in full and successful completion of the course is a requirement of the offer of employment.  The courses are held in Welwyn Garden City and travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with Trust policy. 

You MUST be able to commit to undertaking the training course as outlined above.
