Job overview

Systems and Project Accountant

Join Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust as a Systems and Project Accountant and play a key role in the Finance team. You will help keep our financial records robust and timely by developing and administering our core finance systems, strengthening financial controls, and supporting colleagues to use systems confidently so we can deliver high-quality care.

Excellent inter-personal and communication skills are essential with the ability to communicate complex financial issues effectively with both non-finance and finance staff.

The role is expected to be a hybrid working pattern, in both Trust premises and from home with a Norfolk base.

NSFT supports flexible working and we will consider part time and flexible working requests in the fulfilment of this role

 

 

Main duties of the job

 

  • Develop, administer and improve financial accounting systems and interfaces, ensuring accurate ledgers and on-time outputs.
  • Manage systems controls including user access, approval hierarchies and the Delegated Authority Database.
  • Produce clear management information, support monthly monitoring and contribute to final accounts and statutory returns.
  • Review general ledger coding for compliance and complete reconciliations of balance sheet and suspense accounts; agree annual roll forward balances.
  • Oversee finance aspects of the Trust’s procurement system, promoting adherence to policies and delegations across services.
  • Support Accounts Payable: resolve complex queries, oversee payment runs and manage urgent or manual payments and the local bank account.
  • Maintain finance documentation and intranet resources; design and deliver training for finance and non-finance users.
  • Provide expert financial input to major projects and change programmes.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Engaged in study for CCAB or equivalent qualification or willing to commence training
  • Membership of AAT, relevant degree or equivalent qualification or equivalent knowledge gained through extensive experience in a similar role.

Experience
