Job overview

The Trust is looking to appoint Clinical Advisor EOC (Validators) to work in the Clinical Assessment Service in the Emergency Operations Centres in Chelmsford or Norwich.

We are looking for Paramedics and nurses Nurses (Adult) 

We are looking for full or part time permanent staff, for our permanent relief or Core Rotas.  (Minimum 18hrs per week)

Please note an initial  training period consisting of a minimum 112 hrs  (3 weeks) will be required to be completed at full time hours to consolidate training and learning. 

Main duties of the job

This role intercepts lower acuity and clinically appropriate 999 calls, providing advice and arrange for safe and appropriate care pathways for these patients. The over-riding aim is to appropriately and safely reduce 999 ambulance demand and A&E admissions. The candidate will be an integral part of the evolution and establishment of a Regional CAS that will develop a multi-disciplinary approach to 999 call interception as well as routine triage of non-emergency 999 calls. The successful applicant must hold an NMC nursing registration OR  HCPC registered paramedic.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Currently has Adult Nursing registration with NMC or Paramedic registration with HCPC AND 2 years post registration experience in an acute clinical environment.
  • Experience in the field of A&E, Critical Care, Intensive Care or other relevant acute setting
  • Previous experience of face to face or telephone triage using approved clinical applications (NHS Pathways, Lowcode, Manchester Triage etc)

Able to handle distress

Essential criteria
  • Able to deal effectively with highly distressed callers.

Personal Skills

Essential criteria
  • High level of I.T and telephony dexterity.
Desirable criteria
  • Good Communication Skills

Personal Aptitude

Essential criteria
  • Ability to utilise critical analysis skills demonstrating knowledge of differential diagnosis during assessment
  • Experience of audit, evaluation and Clinical Governance
