Job overview

We are looking for a creative, forward thinking and motivated Practitioner Psychologist to join our adult CMHT based in Gateway House, Wymondham. The successful application will join a team of psychological therapists including Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists, Art Therapists, Clinical Associate Psychologists, DBT therapists and Assistant Psychologists that provide consultation, assessment, formulation and treatment for working adults requiring secondary care mental health input.

The psychology team works as part of our multidisciplinary adult community mental health team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of this dedicated growing team who make a difference to patients, carers and the teams you will work with. The post covers the geographical area of South Norfolk.

 

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will form part of the psychology team in the South Norfolk CMHT. As part of their role they will provide consultation, assessment, formulation and treatment to adults requiring secondary care mental health input. There will also be opportunities to join our group programme including MBT and Emotional regulation. The post holder will also be able to contribution to ongoing projects around service improvement, audit, research and evaluation. The psychology team has expertise in a range of therapies including CBT, CAT, EMDR, ACT, Psychodynamic, MDT and DBT. The post holder will be supported with opportunities to further develop their therapeutic competencies through training and CPD.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Post-graduate degree (or its equivalent if trained prior to 1996) in clinical psychology, accredited by BPS
  • Registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Desirable criteria
  • Further CPD or qualifications in evidence based psychological therapy

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with a wide variety and severity of client groups & clinical problems either through previous roles of placements
  • Experience of delivering psychologically informed interventions
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of representing psychology within MDT setting (clinical and organisational contexts).

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to effectively communicate technical and clinically sensitive information to service users, families, carers and other professionals, within and outside NHS.
Desirable criteria
  • Training or further qualification in EMDR

Knowledge

Desirable criteria
  • Well-developed knowledge of theory and practice of specialised psychological intervention and assessment in specialist clinical service-user groups.
