Job overview

We have a exciting opportunity to join our team on Delivery Suite and Pannal Ward at Harrogate District Hospital to support our Consultants and Midwives in the role of Ward Clerk. If you are compassionate, organised and patient-centred, we want to hear from you!

The hours of the post are to work every Saturday and Sunday, 8am-4pm. In total this is a 15 hour a week post.

We are looking for someone who can cope well within a rapidly changing environment, who can multi-task and who can handle the often challenging demands of a busy ward whilst retaining team spirit.

Main duties of the job

As the Ward Clerk on Delivery Suite and Pannal Ward you will be required to:

  • Maintain electronic records to ensure that patients are admitted and discharged in a timely manner.
  • Collect and prep medical records.
  • Answer the telephone and direct to the appropriate clinical member of staff to deal with queries.
  • Liaise with patients and visitors on the ward.
  • Report any estate or IT issues promptly to allow a fast resolution. 
  • Admit new born babies after caesarean sections, checking NHS number have been issued appropriately and pulled through to various systems. 
  • Liaise with the coordinator and have an awareness of forthcoming patients.
