Employer heading
Charity Manager ** Internal Only **
NHS AfC: Band 7
Job overview
**Please note, this vacancy is for internal applicants only**
Harrogate Hospital & Community Charity is proud to be the official Charity partner of Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.
As an NHS Charity, we work closely with the Trust to fund equipment, training, research and projects which enhance the experience of our patients and their families in our acute settings as well as children, young people, and their families across our vast 0-19 children and young people public health services. We also support the Trust’s hard working staff to enable them to enhance the provision of the very best treatment and care.
The role of the Charity Manager serves as a vital link connecting the hospital, Charity, local community and businesses. This dynamic role requires extensive fundraising expertise and line management experience, combined with an infectious energy and enthusiasm that motivates patients, their families, community members and broader audiences to champion Harrogate Hospital & Community as their Charity of choice. The successful candidate must demonstrate their ability to build strong collaborative relationships to deliver meaningful fundraising initiatives, activities and events.
Reporting to the Head of Charity, the successful candidate will join a high performing fundraising team, who will work together to deliver the Charity’s new strategic ambition to double its income by 2030/31.
Main duties of the job
As Charity Manager you will play a pivotal role in driving life‑changing impact across Harrogate Hospital & Community Charity and the Great Start in Life Foundation. You’ll lead a passionate team, build powerful relationships, and champion our mission across the Trust and wider community.
In this dynamic role, you will lead and inspire a high‑performing fundraising team, nurture key donor and corporate partnerships, and embed a culture of exceptional stewardship. You’ll be at the heart of our growth — developing diverse income streams, delivering major appeals, and shaping compelling stories that connect supporters to the difference their generosity makes.
You’ll act as a visible ambassador across hospital sites and the community, building strong relationships with staff, patients, businesses, and local groups to elevate our profile and integrate fundraising into everyday Trust life. Working closely with the Head of Charity, you’ll help steer strategic direction, manage budgets responsibly, and ensure all activity meets the highest standards of governance and compliance.
