The Histopathology department has plans to expand our BMS dissection team. The IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection or previous dissection experience would be an advantage but opportunities to undertake dissection training and qualifications may be available for high performing team members who consistently demonstrate the technical aptitude required.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to perform all clinical laboratory tasks to support the specialized diagnostic service for patients in the Histopathology Department.

Perform routine diagnostic testing procedures in the laboratory on histology and non gynae cytology samples.  Duties will also include:

Accurate descriptive note taking whilst assisting the pathologist at specimen dissection.  Production of digital images of specimens.  Processing and embedding tissue blocks.  Production of high quality sections.  Performance of routine and specialised staining techniques.  Assessment of all stained slides for quality and accuracy.
