Job overview
The post holder will be the senior midwifery and managerial lead for Delivery Suite and the Maternity Assessment Centre.
The post holder will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided on Delivery Suite and Maternity Assessment Centre. They will be easily identifiable to service users, providing strong, visible leadership and have the appropriate level of authority to provide support, advice and assistance required by service users and their families. They will manage and take responsibility for clinical governance and team working that delivers safe and effective clinical care.
Main duties of the job
The role involves 24-hour responsibility for the Delivery Suite and Maternity Assessment Centre and therefore requires advanced communication skills and ensuring processes are in place to support safe and effective care.
The post holder must take responsibility for maintaining their clinical skills.
The post holder will play a key role in ensuring the principles of clinical governance and risk management are implemented.
Clinical leadership, clinical care, management responsibilities, training, education and performance management.

Qualifications and experience
Essential criteria
- Registered midwife with current NMC registration
- Degree level qualification or equivalent
- Recent experience on Delivery Suite at Coordinator level or senior band 6 with extended midwifery skills
- Evidence of managerial experience within maternity services
- Demonstrates evidence of ongoing professional development
- Mentorship qualification
- Proven leadership skills and able to influence change
- Knowledge of current midwifery issues and current local/national maternity service initiatives
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of postgraduate study relating to midwifery or risk management
- Professional Midwifery Advocate
- Experience of complaints management
- Experience of leading patient involvement/patient feedback initiatives

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
