Job overview
Are you passionate about working in complex rehabilitation? Would you like to work in a dynamic, complex rehabilitation team working working with patients whom have neurological conditions and amputees (experience of amputees is not essential) based at Lascelles Rehabilitation Unit which is part of Harrogate District Hospital.

Due to a maternity leave we have a 12 month contract starting in December 2025, for someone to work as part of the Lascelles small MDT service including the Rehab consultant, nursing team, OT, rehab assistants and physiotherapists. We support patients to achieve their optimal functional leave and return to live successfully in the community.
Main duties of the job

Full training for staff will be given, to support becoming specialist in the relevant skills. Staff must have a min of 2 years clinical experience to build on/develop.

To carry an agreed clinical caseload as part of the rehabilitation team on Lascelles ward and be the lead physiotherapist for the Amputee service. To provide specialist physiotherapeutic assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to patients who may have diverse and complex presentations (Amputee and neuro rehabilitation).

To supervise and train junior staff in in-patient and Amputee rehabilitation.

To work independently under the guidance of the advanced physiotherapist and occupational therapist ensuring active participation in the professional development of self and others.

To contribute to other departmental activities.

As part of the out-patient case load to manage the twice weekly Amputee clinics and when required visit patients in their place of residence when appropriate and provide specialist input.

Maintain a database for the regional Amputee service.

Liaise closely and be the main link with Seacroft clinicians, the regional prosthetic centre in Leeds. Also for York District Hospital vascular service, where the vast majority of amputation surgery is carried out.

To liaise with and support in-patient teams when Amputees are under their care

Criteria
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or equivalent
- Completed a range of post-grad training on relevant subjects
- Minimum 2 years post graduate experience
- Experience of rehabilitation in-patient and/or out-patients
- Skilled in a wide range of physiotherapy assessments in a variety of settings
- NHS experience min 18 months
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of service development
- Completed or working towards professional practice educators qualification
- previous neuro experience
- previous Amputee experience

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
