Job overview

Are you an experienced neurological physiotherapist with a special interest  in-patient  neurology  and out-patient amputees rehabilitation? (NB amputee experience NOT essential). Are you ready to help us continue to progress physiotherapy services for Lascelles Rehabilitation unit?  Would you like to join a supportive and progressive specialist team of occupational therapists, doctors, nurses and rehabilitation assistants?  Do you thrive on variety of patient  presentations in complex  and neurological rehabilitation ?  If YES then this is the post for you!

Main duties of the job

Lascelles is a 13 bedded rehabilitation unit for neurological conditions and complex rehabilitation. You will work to further develop our one team approach in the unit alongside the MDT, including the band 7 occupational therapist.  You will demonstrate advanced skills and competence in this clinical area and understanding of evidence informed approaches. 

You will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the rehabilitation and discharge process.  In addition, you will demonstrate and support leadership in a team of experienced physiotherapists and support staff, and specifically support the band 6 physiotherapist who delivers the out-patient amputee service (10 hours/week)

This post is based at Lascelles and sits in the wider stroke, neurology and amputee team. As one of the band 7 therapist at this level you will support and input to the wider team when needed providing a supportive environment for staff and patients to thrive.  You will also provide expert clinical support to the staff in Lascelles.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered with HCPC
  • BSc Physiotherapy
  • Professional development portfolio demonstrating skills and aptitude in this field.
  • Relevant MSc qualification or evidence of working at a level 7.
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant CPD qualifications

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in Neurology
  • Physiotherapy, with specialist & experience knowledge in rehabilitation.
  • Previous NHS employment and experience- min of 4 years
  • Extensive knowledge of neurological and related conditions.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a similar service to the advertised post.
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Experience of working with Amputees and their rehabilitation
  • Knowledge of Amputees and their rehabilitation
