Bank GP OOH Support Technician

Job overview
Harrogate GP Out of Hours provide an urgent primary care service when GP surgeries are closed. The position offers the chance to join a team who work together in a friendly, open and respectful way in line with our Trust Values, ensuring that the team and service accomplishes a high quality service for patients.
The administrative bank position offers an opportunity for people who can provide excellent and accurate administration, customer service and communication skills. Duties include the booking in of patients, reception support, stock control, driving duties, equipment checking all in line with Trust policy.
The service runs 7 days a week with weekday evenings starting from 18.00-08.00 and a 24 hr service on weekends and bank holidays.
Shift pattern required:
- 1730-2300 (Mon-Fri)
- 2245-0815 (Mon-Fri)
- 0800-2000 (Weekends)
- 1945-0815 (Sat- Sun)
Applicants must be available and prepared to work a variety of the shift patterns, especially night shift cover.
Main duties of the job
- Set up of unit and support the reception team with the smooth running of the unit.
- Face to face patient welcome and booking in using SystmOne with an accurate level of data entry.
- Multi discipline communication with GP’s, Healthcare Professionals, Emergency Dept, 111 and patients.
- Stock control procedures and policy in line with Trust policy.
- Equipment checks to endeavour that all property belonging to the Trust is looked after safely and securely.
- Supporting clinical staff in their duties as necessary, including setting up or the use of medical equipment (setting up and administering oxygen, setting up nebuliser, using defibrillator) and handling prescription medications as requested.
- Drive and operate the GP OOHs vehicle in a safe and secure manner when taking clinical staff to visit patients.
- Chaperone support when called on by Clinical staff.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with members of the public/customer care environment
- Experience of driving in all weather conditions
- Ability to remain flexible within a rota system including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
- Computer literate - Microsoft office & confident learning in-house systems
Desirable criteria
- Good knowledge of the appropriate geographical area
- Experience of driving a company vehicle on behalf of the employer
- Ability to assist doctors in their duties, including knowledge of relevant medical equipment
