Job overview

The role entails supporting the SSD Manager in day-to-day operations, managing corrective and preventive actions per ISO13485, and investigating Datix events for compliance. It includes providing technical oversight, ensuring safety standards, and managing quality procedures. Responsibilities encompass delivering high-quality service, contributing to decontamination services, troubleshooting issues, and participating in audits. Additionally, managing staff development, ensuring regulatory compliance, and conducting risk assessments are vital. The role involves budget management, collaborating with teams, maintaining equipment, and providing technical advice. Participation in research, training, and quality assurance programs is expected. Effective communication, adherence to Key Performance Indicators, and guidance to healthcare science workforce are crucial.

Main duties of the job

  • Support SSD Manager in day-to-day operational management of the department
  • Manage corrective and preventive action process in accordance with ISO13485
  • Close down CAPA’s in accordance with ISO13485
  • Manage and investigate Datix events regarding compliance within the department
  • Provide technical oversight and manage the team
  • Maintain high departmental safety standards
  • Manage, develop, and review quality procedures, SOPs, and forms
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality service
  • Contribute to specialised decontamination services
  • Apply professional judgment and scientific knowledge
  • To ensure the department operates within the financial budget and delivers cost improvement programmes
  • To participate in research projects and validate new equipment/processes
