Job overview

Under the supervision of senior colleagues, the post holder will assist in the delivery and evaluation of the Occupational Health vaccination and surveillance programmes, in line with legislative and official guidance, Trust policy requirements and current best practice.

Main duties of the job

Administration and Clerical

  • Maintenance of accurate occupational health records (electronic) in line with professional and legal requirements and Trust policy.

Clinical

  • Participate in the day-to-day provision of occupational health flu vaccination services following Trust policies/procedures and under the supervision of a specialist nurse, including: health assessment and provision of advice to individual clients, and their manager if appropriate, on appropriate actions and/or referral; provision of suitable health surveillance programmes; vaccination/immunisation programmes; health promotion.
  • Use specialist equipment once trained to competently and safely perform pertinent clinical vaccination.
  • Analyse and interpret information taking appropriate action including referral or consultation with senior colleague if necessary, and give relevant advice to individual employees, employee groups and managers.

Governance

  • Comply with Department of Health/Health Service guidelines, legislative requirements, Trust policy/procedures and best practice for the provision of occupational health services.
  • Raise concerns regarding client care or provision of Occupational Health services with the Head of Occupational Health or other senior colleagues.
  • Be accountable for own professional actions.

  • Registered nurse (Adult) with NMC

Experience

  • Working in a setting with Adults
  • Experience of working in a team.
  • Minimum of three years post-registration experience
  • Experience of immunisation/health promotion/ well person assessment
Desirable criteria
  • Community experience.
  • Flu Track experience
  • Minimum of 2 years NHS experience
